Google Tokyo Creatives Join Lineup

(Tuesday, 19 December 2017)

Award-winning Creative Directors at Google Japan, Tim Seddon and Gene Brutty, have today been announced as part of the Emergence Creative Festival Line-up.  The festival is now in it’s sixth year and will be held in Margaret River from March 21 – 24, 2018.

Both born and raised in Perth, Tim and Gene were paired together by chance as juniors and are now celebrating 8 years of creative partnership spanning Perth, Sydney and Tokyo. A simple philosophy of creating utility, not advertising has seen them work as digital leads at some of Australia’s biggest creative agencies and eventually at Google where they apply their user-first approach to show brands that there’s more to the internet than just banner ads and YouTube pre-rolls.

Now in their third year at Google Japan, they have worked with some of the country’s biggest brands and agencies, and picked up over 40 international creative awards.

Gene Brutty said the pair were looking forward to returning home to be a part of the festival.

“We’re really excited to return home for a festival like Emergence and try to give something back to the local industry that helped shape us as creatives. It was a pivotal time in our careers and something we’ve only truly appreciated in hindsight,” he said.

Emergence Festival Director Erin Molloy said championing Western Australian talent is a key part of the festival.

“We have some incredible creative talent coming out of WA, and each year we are able to put the spotlight on and bring home some of those that are making waves internationally. Last year we had Matt Eastwood (NYC), the year before we had Russell James (NYC) and Ned McNeilage (LA), amongst others return to the state, and in 2018 it’s fantastic that we have Tim and Gene in the mix to share their journey, which started in WA,” she said.

The three-day festival and conference takes place in the Margaret River Region from Wednesday March 21 through to Saturday March 24 and boasts a program featuring international keynotes, hands-on workshops, intimate colab sessions and out-there satellite events in some of the South West region’s iconic locations.

Earlybird AAA and Conference Only Passes are available for purchase until mid-January. You can purchase tickets here.  Single-Day Passes, Workshops, Colab Sessions and Closing Party tickets will be available for purchase in January.
