‘Seniman’ means ‘Artist’ (male) in the Indonesian language.
Rodney Glick is one of Indonesia’s leading Specialty Coffee personalities. He is a certified coffee ‘Q’ Grader through the Specialty Coffee Association of America, one of the few high-end Indonesian green bean processors, a coffee roaster and barista. Glick is the Director of Seniman Industries, a creative collective specialising in award- winning coffee studios, roasteries, product design, interiors and consulting and is the Coffee Master at Seniman Coffee Studio, Ubud, Bali. He writes, thinks, talks, makes and tastes a lot of coffee – usually pretty good coffee at that!
In a parallel universe Glick is a contemporary artist with a wide-ranging practice, encompassing the fields of furniture design and architecture, film to sculpture and photography to publications. He has exhibited widely across Australia and internationally. He has undertaken residencies in Yogyakarta, Kent, New York, Seoul, Taipei and Basel, has had Major Solo Museum Retrospectives in Australia at the MCA in Sydney and has been included in the Contemporary Art Biennials of Sydney, Havana and São Paulo.
Glick has for many years been listed amongst Australia’s top 50 most collectable contemporary artists with artworks in such collections as the Australian National Gallery, Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art, the New South Wales and Western Australian Art Galleries, numerous University and Private Collections. He has completed large-scale public art projects and designed /built houses both in Australia and Indonesia with a focus on environmental sustainability.
